Waiting on Wednesday #3 ~ I’m waiting on Ms. Jones again!

Posted April 3, 2012 in Meme / 20 Comments

“Waiting on” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine.  We share those books we can’t wait to get our hands on!

Death and the Girl Next Door (Darklight #1) by Darynda Jones
Expected publication date: October 2nd, 2012

From Goodreads: Things get turned upside down for sophomore Lorelei MacAlister when the Angel of Death starts high school in her small town. What she doesn’t know is that she has been slated to die. It’s simply her time. And Death has been sent to do the deed. But when he touches her, when he peers into her eyes and reaches into her heart, he realizes she is more than what he was led to believe, and he disobeys his orders. He brings her back from the brink of death when he was supposed to push her into it. Because of this, he gets trapped on this plane. And that’s when all hell breaks loose. Literally.

Why am I waiting, you ask?  Because it’s freakin’ Darynda Jones’ first YA novel!!!!  Duhhh….

What else should I be waiting for?  Let me know!

  1. You know, bookcovers are a little like Rohrschach-tests. “What do you see here?” And the answer can either be “A threesome.” or “A Lovetriangle.” or “A threesome lovetriangle.” 😀 (I thought a threesome, then realized that it’s YA.)

    • Impressive use of the word (and spelling) of Rohrschach!!! And mind, gutter, remove, girlie!!! Move over to BDB, plz!! hee, hee… You know there will be tri-tension here, tho!! You can just tell…. :)

  2. Great pick! I’ve been meaning to feature this one. Not only does it sound awesome but I love the author’s adult series so I’m curious to see what she does with YA. Thanks for visiting My WOW! hahah@Partricia! Obviously there will probably be the usual YA love triangle *sigh*

    • I read pretty fast, but to actually post the reviews? You’d swear I was the slowest reader on earth. LOL! So I’m going to try to write my reviews on my blog as soon as I’ve finished a book, like I did on Goodreads before my blog came along ( I usually do write my reviews immediately, but not on my blog).

Thanks for your advice! I’ll definitely use all of it! You are awesome!

    • I was looking at her YA site and the dates were all sooner but you know publishers… they prob pushed it back so it was Charley, then Lorelei later in the year.

  3. I’ve never heard of this one before. I’ve actually never heard of Darynda Jones before. Tha’s awful of me; I’ll just come out of the rock I’ve been living under and say that this book sounds awesome. I’m definitely going to check Darynda Jones out now. Thanks for giving me the heads up. Happy reading!
